Agony - Destiny - Triumph

"The agony in Gethsemane is the agony of the Son of God in fulfilling His destiny as the Saviour of the world.  The veil is drawn aside to reveal all it cost Him to make it possible for us to become sons of God.

"His agony is the basis of the simplicity of our salvation.

"The Cross of Christ is a triumph for the Son of Man.  It was not only a sign that Our Lord had triumphed, but that He had triumphed to save the human race.

"Every human being can get through into the presence of God now because of what the Son of Man went through."

- Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, April 5th entry

  1. AMEN!! [Have you ever read a biography re: Oswald Chambers? It really indicates that what he wrote, what he shared, how he lived, and how he died show everyday determination of following the Lord not matter what.]

  2. Joanne, no, I have never read a biography on Mr. Chambers, but would love to sometime! It seems as if he was an incredible man - with much godly wisdom.

    1. The book is Abandoned to God by McCasland. You could get if from Amazon when you're home. I'd ship mine your way, but the risk of it not even showing up would be frustrating. At Amazon the used ones are under $5. It's not unlike him to sacrifice himself, in a sense, to make sure he refused to take a hospital bed in Egypt during WWI and keep military wounded men from having space. Anyhow, think you'd like it...

  3. Thanks so much for sharing this! What wisdom and truth is packed into that short paragraph!
